You are welcome to raise your rants anytime hehe. I know what you mean about the body language it has all looked a bit shifty at times. But I have to say I still trust the man and hope that he manages to retake the SSP for the sake of the party, but a split does look very likely. What I dont like about it all is the constant references to the MSP's siding with the CAPITALISTS - this is an obvious attempt to discredit the MSP's virtually an accusation of them having lost their ideological values - a terrible thing to accuse a socialist of and far worse than the SCAB accusations. Its all gotten a bit childish hasnt it? Like bairns in the playground isnt it - my gangs better than yours and yes the mention of the 'truth' appears to have gotten lost in some quest for an Ideological perception of truth.
I shall not be returning to the ranks of the SSP for some time in the future if ever, like most people I have grown out of socialist utopian idealism and am beginning to acquire a new found respect for more centrist political policies. Although Marxism right or wrong is still one of the best sociological theories to explain inequalities in society.

Hi...
Commenting here because of the glitch I get with your main blog on the Tommy Sheridan case.
I have followed the case closely as he is a man I respect and admire, even although I sharply disagree with many of his views. It was a fascinating journey and one in which from everything I could see he was going to lose given the weight of [alleged] evidence against him.
As you note of course he won, but it left a bitter/sweet taste in my mouth because ultimately is appears to have reduced itself to more about him as the people's champion against the mighty News of the World, rather than the truth against the lies. What particularly concerned me was the body language of his wife on nearly every occassion I seen them. It was all wrong and suggested to me that there was more going on between them that what they were and are declaring.
Also I think that the victory must be tempered with the knowledge that it might be short-lived given the appeal by the NotW. I'm not sure how those appeals work but if not by a similar jury decision then it may well work in a completely different way.
Finally, there is the absolutely fatal damage this has done to the SSP which is now as good as finished until it can recover from this, something that doesn't seem likely if talks of a leadership challenge by Tommy is true and of course the fact that the current leadership are actively trying to totally discredit Tommy within the party.
All in all I'm not sure there are any real winners in the situation and what the truth of it all is still remains for me unknown.
Sorry for seeming pessimistic on this subject but thanks for giving me the opportunity to raise my rants lol..
cheers
