If you want funny, witty and relaxing books to read try Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. I read them at night before I go to sleep and have been known to nearly fall out of bed laughing.
I've read all my life with J P Donleavy, John Dos Passos and Stephen Donaldson among my favourites.

I have to confess I am too busy 'doing' to sit down and read. I usually read in the bath and am currently reading Dead famous by Ben Elton. I often use the opportunity though to read reference books, I have recently been through some woodworking manual books and some computing books.

My own view is that we are far too soft on the perpetrators of such actions and make way too many excuses for them. I think you have the right say exactly what you want, and how you want to.

I'm afriad anyone who beats up old ladies, children etc are out of the social contract and deserve some of their own behaviour.

Its far too easy for them to cry foul and then get preferential or reduced or no punishments as a result.

I know that to some extent you are correct there is fault with the parenting - the role models themselves dont appear to know right from wrong. However, there comes an age of criminal responsibility and in law it is assumed that by this age people do know right from wrong. It is a shameful world we live in. I think you are wonderful to help these ppl especially after what has happened, not sure I could do the same thing I would want retribution, but that isn't always the answer is it? these thugs that hurt your son, hope they eventually get what they deserve.
